Sports Events 2018 - 2019

Mrs Fish

And that's that, the end of the school year and the end of all things sporty. At a time where we say goodbye to the Year 6's and wish them well in high school, we can now look back on how our sporting events have gone since last term.

We start with the more recent Northwood Athletics competition, in which we managed to come away with 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal and even finish 3rd overall out of 7 small schools! What an amazing achievement!

Gold Medals were awarded to Emma McAvoy (Y5) for the 60m skip and Oliver Lowe (Y5) for the 80m sprint! Well done!

Silver medals were awarded to Alice Cumberlidge (Y4) for the girls high jump, James Fallows (Y6) for the 60m skip and Millie Bosworth (Y5) for the girls 800m!

And the bronze medal was awarded to Alexander Carroll (Y5) for the boys high jump! Well done to all that went and took part.

We move further backwards now to the last football fixture for Mr Gee's team away to Thursfield, in which they lost to a very unlucky own goal...but they will start the new year with a fresh mindset, with plenty of girls football fixtures to look forward to as well!

Moving to this week and we took 25 children to an inclusive sports day at Keele University. We split into 3 teams in which Mrs Fish, Mr and Miss Evans and Mr Gee all led, and we are proud to say that the day was a success and we thank all the helpers at Keele for running a smooth event, and give credit to one Castle team in particular of which they were unbeaten in all events that they took part in!

We also took part in a rounders tournament against Black Firs, in which all of Year5/6 went along too. Again well done to all that took part!

And for now, we say goodbye again! This year has come and gone and we can only wait for next year. Let us see what it brings...

Until September!

Mr Gee and Mrs Fish :)
